SAFRAN 2026. A celebration of Niagara’s francophone voices

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Salon du Livre des Francophonies du Niagara (SAFRAN) once again brought the community together at the Niagara Artists Centre for a day rich in culture, conversation and discovery.

All day long, the public enjoyed a varied program showcasing the range of francophone talent. The live works created by Mosbah Abdelhamid, along with the book signings with Michèle Laframboise, Saïd Ben, Fété Ngira-Batware Kimpiobi, Melina Seymour and Karim Sigère, drew a warm response.

Activities also included a screening of the sitcom “Y’a quoi maintenant ?”, music and slam poetry performances, stories and riddles with Mama Fété and Papa Raconte, and a theatre performance of “Tumulte chez les D’Angerio” by Nafée Faïgou.

Among the highlights, the launch of the book Petit GPS pour ne pas perdre le nord by Fété Ngira-Batware Kimpiobi and the round table “Les voix du milieu” led to rich conversations about living together and the future of the Francophonie.

The day closed with a striking staged reading, accompanied by Amadou Kienou on the kora, a moving moment of connection with the audience.

SAFRAN 2026 confirms its essential role as a place to meet, to create and to celebrate francophone voices from Niagara and beyond.
