A mentorship program to strengthen the independence and success of Francophone women

SOFIFRAN’s home child care project is part of a broader vision of support for women’s entrepreneurship and for quality early childhood services in the Niagara region.

This program supports, trains and equips Francophone women who want to offer a home child care service that meets standards of quality, safety and children’s well-being.

Goal of the project

The main goal of the project is to build the economic independence of Francophone women while meeting the growing need for French-language child care in the region.

Through a structured mentorship program, participants receive personalized support that helps them:

• understand what is required to open a home child care service;
• learn the essentials of early childhood education, health and safety;
• manage their child care business effectively;
• draw on best practices through first-hand stories and interactive workshops.

Third cohort, mentorship workshops

The third cohort of the project begins its mentorship phase on October 7, 2025, with an online workshop every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Vanessa Aubourg and Clarice Djuikouo will share their expertise at the weekly gatherings and will cover a wide range of topics, from the day-to-day running of a home child care to planning learning activities, as well as building relationships with parents and the community.

This project is carried out in collaboration with Niagara Region and funded by the Canadian Women’s Foundation.

With their support, SOFIFRAN continues its mission to promote solidarity, action and innovation within the Francophone community.

An initiative that builds the future

Beyond the training, this project is a lever for inclusion and empowerment for Francophone women. It helps them bring together family life, community involvement and professional growth.
