Welland, February 15, 2025. SOFIFRAN is pleased to announce that it has received $362,391 in funding through the Women’s Program of the Department for Women and Gender Equality of Canada. This financial support will allow our organization to carry out the project “Building capacity to meet the needs of women in Niagara”.

This 18-month project aims to strengthen SOFIFRAN’s capacity to promote gender equality and to address the specific challenges that Francophone immigrant women face in the Niagara region. It is built around several areas of work: in-depth research, an external analysis, and community consultations to better understand the issues these women face and to identify the priority actions to take, using a GBA Plus approach.

Key activities of the project include drawing up a strategic plan, building partnerships and training the SOFIFRAN team, in particular in mental health, digital tools and computer software. A thorough evaluation will also be carried out to measure the impact of the project and follow its progress.

SOFIFRAN wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the Government of Canada and to Women and Gender Equality Canada for their financial support, which is essential to making this initiative a reality.
