The project in detail

Welland, February 15, 2025. SOFIFRAN is pleased to announce that it has received a grant of $362,391 through the Women’s Program of Women and Gender Equality Canada. This funding will allow our organization to carry out the project “Building capacity to meet the needs of women in Niagara”. This 18-month project aims to strengthen SOFIFRAN’s ability to promote gender equality and to address the specific challenges facing francophone immigrant women in the Niagara region. It will be built around several areas of work: in-depth research, an external analysis, and community consultations to better understand what these women are living through and to identify the priority actions to take, using a GBA Plus approach. Key activities will include developing a strategic plan, building partnerships and training the SOFIFRAN team, in particular in mental health, digital tools and computer software. A thorough evaluation will also be carried out to measure the impact of the project and follow its progress. SOFIFRAN wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the Government of Canada and to Women and Gender Equality Canada for their financial support, which is essential to making this initiative happen.
